About This Course

What must change when your success depends on other people?

The move into management is not primarily a promotion in task complexity. It is an identity shift. The habits that made someone a strong individual contributor—personal control, direct execution, and visible expertise—can become constraints when the work is to create clarity, capability, and coordination through others.

“The first management challenge is not learning to do more; it is learning that your value now comes from what the team can do.”

We work through exercising authority without defaulting to control, defining and communicating your accountabilities with real clarity, and directing work in a team environment that increasingly includes AI-assisted output. As the opening course in Management Foundations, it's designed to be taken in the first weeks of a new management role, or as a reset for anyone who stepped into management without this grounding.

Questions about this course
Is this course only for people brand new to management?
It's designed with new managers in mind, but many people who've been managing for a while take it as a reset — the identity shift it describes is one a lot of managers never fully made, even years into the role.
What does this course say about directing AI-assisted work specifically?
A dedicated module addresses directing work in an AI-assisted team environment — what accountability and quality standards look like when part of a team's output involves AI tools, a question most first-time-manager training doesn't yet cover.
How does this connect to the other courses in the path?
This opens Management Foundations. It establishes the identity and authority foundation that setting expectations and running effective 1:1s — the next two courses — both build on.
What do I receive when I complete the course?
A Udemy certificate of completion, shareable on LinkedIn and downloadable as a PDF, plus lifetime access to all course content.
